The FirstChoice Employer MySuper product has failed its 2020-2021 financial year performance test.
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has determined under subsection 60C(2) of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 that in relation to the 2020-21 financial year for the trustee’s Part 6A product (MySuper product) of Colonial First State FirstChoice Superannuation Trust, the requirement in subsection 60D(1) of the Act has not been met. Therefore, the MySuper product did not pass the annual performance test as the performance measure for the assessment year did not equal or exceed -0.005. The Trustee will ensure that each beneficiary of the entity who holds the MySuper product is given notice of the performance assessment.
It’s important to note, that the performance test only applied to the MySuper product - FirstChoice Lifestage investment option, and not any of the other Colonial First State products or investment options.
How the performance test works
The performance test assesses FirstChoice Employer Super and other MySuper products against a new benchmark over the past seven years, and administration fees over the 12 months to 30 June 2021. The benchmark for the test blends performance across different MySuper Lifestages, which means that the return for your investment could be different to the return used in the performance test.
