One-off financial advice

Expert advice for your next financial decision

Available to all CFS members, one-off financial advice offers an affordable and convenient way to get expert advice on specific financial topics, when the timing is right for you. Book an appointment with our guidance team, and they'll arrange a meeting with a qualified adviser.

What one-off financial advice can help with

One-off advice gives you expert guidance on a specific financial topic, when you need it. It focuses on a defined area of advice, such as investments, super, retirement, pensions, insurance or estate planning.

One-off advice may be suitable for you, if you’re:

  • navigating a major life event, such as having a baby, receiving an inheritance, being made redundant or going through a divorce
  • reviewing your super, savings or investments
  • planning for retirement or optimising your pension strategy
  • assessing your insurance needs
  • looking for professional advice without an ongoing commitment

How one-off financial advice works

Here's what to expect after booking an appointment with our guidance team.

Prepare for your meeting

Our guidance team will contact you to arrange your complimentary discovery meeting at a time that suits you. Before the meeting, you'll complete a digital fact find so your adviser can better understand your needs and prepare for your meeting.

Your first meeting

Meet with a qualified adviser via video call to discuss your financial situation, goals and advice needs in more detail. Your adviser will explain how they can help and provide a fee proposal for you to consider. You can then decide whether you'd like to proceed.

Receive your advice

Your adviser will develop a strategy tailored to your needs and agreed scope of advice. Their recommendations will be documented in a Statement of Advice, which they'll present to you and explain the reasoning behind each recommendation.

Implement your plan

If you decide to proceed, your adviser will help put the recommendations into action. They'll manage the paperwork and coordinate with relevant providers on your behalf, making the process as simple and seamless as possible.

How much does one-off advice cost?

Your first discovery meeting is complimentary and comes with no obligation. If you choose to proceed, one-off advice fees range from $500 to $1,000 + GST per advice topic, with total fees capped at $3,000 + GST.

These fees relate to advice for an individual CFS member. You can also get one-off advice with your partner, even if they're not a CFS member, for an additional 50% of your advice fee.

Before any work begins, your adviser will clearly explain the costs, the scope of advice, and what you'll receive, so there are no surprises.

Everything starts with a good conversation
