Colonial First State (CFS) is pleased to announce that it has again been independently recognised among the top performing funds in the country.
New analysis from research house SuperRatings reveals that the CFS FirstChoice Employer (MySuper Lifestage 1980-84) option was ranked second and the Essential Super (MySuper Lifestage 1980-84) option ranked third in the Top 10 MySuper Lifecycle options over the year to 30 June, with both options delivering a 13.4% return.
CFS FirstChoice Growth returned 11.2% over the 12 months to 30 June, beating Chant West’s median growth fund return of 10.5% to be named among the top three highest performing growth funds in Australia by the research house.
“We are incredibly pleased that CFS continues to be recognised as one of the top performing superannuation providers in the country. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to delivering strong, consistent returns for our members,” Colonial First State Superannuation CEO Kelly Power said.
“The expertise and discipline of our investments team play a crucial role in achieving these outstanding results."
Colonial First State Chief Investment Officer Jonathan Armitage said the importance of building resilient portfolios cannot be overstated in today's volatile investment environment.
“Our disciplined approach over the past year has been crucial, and our effective management of investment risk has enabled us to achieve strong returns despite challenging markets,” Mr Armitage said.
“Although global and emerging market equities played a significant role in driving returns, our success is underpinned by a diverse range of asset classes. Going forward, diversifying the drivers of returns will remain a key focus,” he said.
“We are particularly pleased that three consecutive years of double-digit returns across our balanced- and growth-equivalent MySuper options has seen their investment performance exceed the median over three and five-year periods.”
The FirstChoice Employer Super growth fund (MySuper Lifestage 1975-79) delivered a 13.1% return over 3 years and 10.9% over 5 years.
The FirstChoice Employer Super balanced fund (MySuper Lifestage 1965-69) delivered a 11.3% return over 3 years and 9.1% over 5 years.
CFS was also recognised for strong performance in SuperRatings Top 10 Balanced passive options for FY25, with the CFS FirstChoice Employer - Enhanced Index Balanced option achieving fourth place with a 12.3% return. This option achieved the highest return in the category over a five-year period, with an annualised return of 9.7%.
