Why does having a Will matter?

A Will gives you the power to decide what happens to your money, home and personal belongings when you’re no longer here. Without one, state laws make those decisions for you, which may not reflect your wishes.

Half of Australian adults don’t have a valid Will*, which means many loved ones are left navigating uncertainty.

Your Will is just the start. A broader estate plan helps you manage your affairs if you can’t make decisions yourself. And remember: your super isn’t automatically covered by your Will, you’ll need to nominate a beneficiary if you want it included.

Why have we partnered with Safewill?

Safewill is one of Australia’s leading online Will‑writing platforms, trusted by more than 450,000 Australians. We’ve partnered with them because they make Will‑writing simple, secure and accessible.

What to expect:

  • Fast: Most people finish their Will in under 20 minutes.
  • Secure: Your information stays protected with Safewill’s Zero Trust security framework.
  • Easy: Easy and stress-free to write your Will online, wherever and whenever suits you best.
  • Compliant: Every Will is checked by Safewill Legal for accuracy.

Frequently asked questions

Your Essentials Will is at no extra cost, including a legal review. If your situation is complex, you can upgrade to a Customised Will for $199 (normally $359).

If you already have a Will, you can use Safewill to update it at any time. Life changes, and your Will should evolve too.

Once your new Will is completed, printed, signed and witnessed, it automatically becomes your valid legal document. Safewill will also store a digital copy in your account, making it easier to keep track of updates over time.

Yes, and it’s easy. Your Essentials Will includes unlimited updates for the first year, giving you flexibility as things change.

After that, you can continue to update your Will and store it securely through Safewill’s Digital Vault as part of the ongoing CFS–Safewill member arrangement.

Regularly reviewing your Will is one of the simplest ways to keep your affairs up to date and help the people you care about avoid uncertainty in the future.

Safewill uses a privacy vault and Zero Trust security framework. Your information isn’t shared with CFS unless you give consent.

Once you’ve submitted your details, a lawyer from Safewill Legal carefully reviews your Will to make sure everything is accurate, complete and legally sound. If anything needs refining, they’ll let you know so you can update it before final approval.

When your Will is ready, you’ll receive clear instructions on how to finalise it. Simply print it and sign with two witnesses to make it legally valid. Safewill also stores a digital copy in your account, helping you keep your important documents organised for the future.

The Digital Vault allows you to securely store all the details your Executor may need in one place, from assets and liabilities to key contacts, subscriptions, and even your funeral wishes. By having everything organised and easy to access, you can significantly reduce the time, stress, and cost your family may face when managing your estate. When someone passes away, only their Executor - the legal authority on their estate - can access the Safewill Digital Vault. The Executor must complete a series of security checks, which include verifying their identity and providing confirmation of the account holder’s passing.

This process ensures that only the appropriate person gains access to the vault’s contents, maintaining security and privacy. It is strongly advised not to share your login details with anyone, as access is specifically granted to the Executor through this secure process after your death.
