The Insurance in Superannuation Voluntary Code of Practice

Transition Plan

We’re committed to helping our members better understand and manage the insurance they have in their super.

That’s why we’ve committed to complying with the Insurance in Superannuation Voluntary Code of Practice (Code).

The Code commenced on 1 July 2018. We’re already meeting a number of the standards identified in the Code and we’re committed to meet the remaining items by 1 January 2022.

The Code sets standards that will provide greater understanding, clearer accountability and consistency of delivery for insurance benefits provided in superannuation across the industry.

Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) and the Financial Services Council (FSC) are the owners of the Code, supporting the implementation and oversight of the Code.

The Code, was updated in March 2020 and February 2021 to align with the changes made to super law and the compliance date was deferred to 1 January 2022.

You can find a copy of the Code here.

We have developed a Transition Plan, which outlines the details of what we’ve done and still needs to be done. We will provide updates here as we make progress.
