Overview of Aspect Capital

  • Aspect Capital was founded in 1997. The company currently manages over $7 billion across a range of systematic investment solutions.

We are UK-based with offices in London, the US and Hong Kong. Together with co-founder and Research Director, Martin Lueck, we have over 55 years’ experience in quantitative investing.

Aspect today employs over 110 people with a wide range of backgrounds and unique skills. We believe that diverse experience enhances creativity and problem-solving and helps to drive the company’s continuous research and development effort.

We aim to combine scientific principles and leading-edge technology to create diversifying investment solutions for our clients. We believe that a statistical and evidence-based approach is best. We strive to improve every facet of the investment process and generate returns for our clients.

We use a repeatable and disciplined investment process, which is defined by a thoroughly researched and constantly evolving set of rules.

Research always starts with an idea about market behaviour which is tested, researched and reviewed. Our findings are critically evaluated every step of the way by our collegiate team. Successful ideas are then built into our robust, scientific investment process.

It’s a systematic approach built on empirical evidence and overseen by creative minds.

Our belief is that market prices are not entirely random but contain predictable and statistically measurable behaviours. The effects may be weak, but we can capture even small edges through disciplined trading and focusing on the detail.

Each idea can be analysed and understood by searching for evidence in data. Within the data lie very human behaviours that create the effects and provide persistence.

Our trading technology uses sophisticated algorithms to capture the patterns and behaviours we identify and minimise the costs of doing so. We aim to systematically capture persistent effects and biases across global markets on behalf of our investors.
